A Degree earned while on the job

Would you hire a guy if he/she showed you this degree earned on the last job? :-)

Boss

As my boss puffs over a smoke looking into the skyline (he has a huge balcony next to his office like most big bosses .. fancy that) he wonders.... and a wondering boss isn't good. 'Will the deal come through?' I just take my humble cup of coffee and try and avoid the second hand smoke and think how am I supposed to know. If I could control these outcomes, I am sure I wouldn't be reporting to him.

He continues - ' Whats your view?'. I almost spill the coffee but manage a straight demeanor and clear my throat. Saying 'I don't know' is not a good option. And the safe recommended response by experts - 'Depends' - doesn't cross my mind. So I just say - 'I think we have a strong chance'. And I immediately regret it for I could almost guess the oncoming 'Why?'.

'I think we have done our best and the client has seen our strengths'. He hears this in silence and more puffs follow. You wonder if continuing to sip coffee is worth it or you should be spending more time on updating your CV. Then he comes back ' I think we need to do something more, something special. I know you have done a great job so far. But we need to do something which clinches the deal for us'. Then he turns, looks at me and then turns again and throws his stub and walks back into his big office to relax back in his mammoth chair.

The big boss has earned his salary for the day. Now my turn begins .... and I don't have a clue where and how to begin.
